Tips to Help Keep A Flower Bouquet Alive Longer
Flowers keep the room vibrant, but often die off quick due to lack of care. The vase life of a flower bouquet is 7-10 days if cared for properly. The following tips will help keep the flowers bright and beautiful longer.
Cut the Stems
Do not forget to cut the stems when caring for a bouquet. Cutting 1-2 inches off, while cutting at an angle will help keep a bouquet alive longer. Continue to retrim every few days.
Watering flowers is essential, but you must not over do it. Keep the bouquet in room temperature water and add a packet of flower food to the vase. Doing this step will keep the flowers healthy. Every 2-3 days, remove the flowers from the vase, clean the vase, and fill again with fresh, room temperature water and a packet of flower food.
Avoid Direct Sunlight
Keeping flowers away from direct sunlight is another trick to keep your bouquet beautiful. Direct sunlight or heat will cause the flowers to dehydrate quicker. Avoid storing your flowers near appliances that attract or apply heat. The flowers will stay fresh in a cooler room.
As plants fade out of bloom, pinch or cut off the floppy petals or stem. If the entire stem is dead, remove it and place the flowers in a smaller vase. Remember: If you keep removing flowers, continue to find a fitting vase.
Completing all of these steps continuously, will allow the bouquet to stay fresh and vibrant for longer.
